Job summary

J2 is seeking a Maintenance Technician at its Brampton facility. You will maintain, repair and fabricate machines and equipment, while upholding safety rules and company procedures. You will develop and manage the preventive maintenance program and monitor spare parts inventory.

The role requires operating lifts and various maintenance tools, with active participation in continuous improvement. The position is full-time, with an hourly pay between CAD 30 and CAD 35, reflecting Ontario market

Responsibilities

• Complies with all Company safety policies, procedures and rules.
• Develops and maintains the Mechanical Preventative Maintenance program and reports on audits.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Production Operations Manager at the Orenda Coatings facility in Brampton, Ontario, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for reporting on daily issues and downtime to the Manager. The duties and responsibilities listed below are not meant to be all-encompassing. As business needs change, this list may be adapted.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Works cooperatively in a team-oriented fashion to maintain, repair and fabricate machines, equipment, and devices
Complies with all Company safety policies, procedures and rules
Adheres to the Technical System Procedures and instructions
Develops and maintains the Mechanical Preventative Maintenance program with management and production personnel and reports to management on the completion of the audits
Maintains the inventory of spare parts and requests replacements be ordered when items are consumed
Performs repairs in the plant and on plant equipment as assigned
Performs Preventative Maintenance
Operates lifting equipment such as Lift Truck, Crane, and Chain Hoist, to move, load or unload equipment as required
Operates all maintenance related equipment including but not limited to Aerial lift, scissor lift, lathe, milling machine, and power tools
May also be called upon to perform repair welding
Actively participates in Continuous Improvement activities
Knowledgeable of and follows safe working practices
Maintains a safe and tidy work area
Ensures the Standards of Section 28 of the OHSA are met
Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

One to two years practical experience or a minimum of five years related experience
Able to diagnose and remedying any mechanical, pneumatic, electrical or hydraulic problems on the shift
EFFORTExceptional planning and organizational skills in a high paced environment
Strong sense of urgency
Effective prioritization and multi-tasking
Role requires strong combination of analytical and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate quickly, clearly, and effectively across multiple levels of the organization, including orally presenting recommendations to Senior Management and the Ownership
High level of analytical and interpersonal skills required
Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Requires wearing personal protective equipment (safety footwear, hearing protection, safety glasses) in appropriate areas
