Job Scope:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Distribution, the Inventory Control Manager is responsible for developing and executing inventory control systems, policies, and best practices to ensure alignment between physical stock and financial data. The Inventory Control Manager oversees an Inventory Supervisor and a team of Shipper/Receivers, providing leadership and guidance to optimize daily inventory operations. This role works cross-functionally with planning, procurement, customer service, finance and distribution to enhance inventory accuracy, minimize discrepancies, and contribute to overall supply chain efficiency. Additionally, the Inventory Control Manager analyzes trends, monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), and drives strategic improvements to support operational excellence and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and enforce processes for reconciling inventory counts, inventory transfers (IN/OUT), item conversions, and third-party warehouse inventory.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of cycle count procedures, documenting results and implementing corrective actions to address variances.
  • Implement and monitor policies to improve inventory accuracy, ensuring compliance with both internal and external audit requirements.

Distribution Operations Oversight:

  • Oversee weekend and holiday distribution operations, ensuring the smooth execution of customer shipments, offloading, and stock replenishment by a team of Shipper/Receivers.
  • Lead the team in handling these tasks during Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, ensuring adherence to inventory control policies and efficient warehouse operations.

Process & Policy Development:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control processes and policies to ensure accuracy and efficiency across the Brampton Distribution Center (BDC) and other sites.
  • Provide strategic direction for CDC utilization, ensuring alignment with broader supply chain and business objectives.
  • Create and roll out company-wide strategies to resolve inventory-related issues, optimizing warehouse storage criteria and space utilization.
  • Establish policies for handling inventory discrepancies, including internal holds, third-party reconciliations, and transfer processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Provide direction to cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations, Customer Service, and Planning, to ensure seamless execution of inventory-related processes.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Warehouse Distribution Manager to develop and maintain standardized inventory practices across all locations.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize inbound inventory management, minimize discrepancies, and reduce slow/obsolete/damaged inventory.
  • Develop process improvements for CDC and Brampton DC to enhance inventory flow and accuracy.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive process refinements to increase efficiency and reduce costs in inventory handling and storage.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Establish and maintain consistent reporting standards for daily, weekly, and monthly inventory accuracy, providing clear visibility into inventory performance across all sites.
  • Generate capacity analysis reports and provide strategic recommendations for improved warehouse and CDC utilization.
  • Develop comprehensive monthly inventory reconciliation reports, tracking inventory valuation and providing insights for business reviews.

Compliance & Audit Standards:

  • Set standards for compliance with corporate and external audit practices, ensuring all processes meet regulatory requirements.
  • Create policies for accurate tracking of raw materials, semi-finished, and finished goods in stock, maintaining up-to-date system records.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business Administration, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5 years of inventory analysis experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop timely solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
