Job summary

Makivvik in Laval, Quebec seeks a dedicated parole support assistant to provide information on early release options and to help develop individualized release plans for federal offenders. You will connect with community resources and collaborate with correctional staff to ensure culturally appropriate plans.

Role requires Inuit knowledge, fluency in Inuktitut and English, and the ability to travel to detention centers in Quebec. Training and support will be provided as part of the position.

Qualifications

  • Inuit knowledge and cultural understanding required.
  • Fluent in Inuktitut and English.
  • Experience in intervention with adults and in case management.
  • Willingness to travel to detention centers in Quebec.
  • Security clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information to federal offenders on early release opportunities such as Section 84 and parole.
  • Identify resources and community contacts to create release plans.
  • Write release plans with Correctional Services staff.
  • Provide cultural background and community resources to correctional staff for release planning.
  • Participate in meetings related to individual release planning.
  • Manage cases and coordinate as part of the team.
  • Collaborate with Justice committees regarding Section 84 processes.
  • Support offenders during parole hearings.
