Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two years of directly related experience; substitutions allowed by education or native-like ASL.
  • Level II: Temporary Interpreting License required and licensure in progress.
  • Level III: National Interpreting Certification and full interpreting license required.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and others in all academic settings.
  • Support classroom lectures, academic advising, field trips, and internships.

Job Summary/Basic Functions

An Interpreter facilitates communication between current students who are deaf/hard of hearing in all academic aspects of the university experience. Including but not limited to, classroom lectures, academic advising, field trips, and internships.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree is required.

Experience: Two (2) years of directly related experience is required. Equivalency: Education or native like ASL skills may substitute for experience

Level III
  • - National Interpreting Certification is required and must be a member in good standing
  • - Full Interpreting License is required and must be maintained
Level II
  • - Temporary Interpreting License is required and must be maintained.
  • - Must be actively working towards National Interpreting Certification
