Job summary

Pratt & Whitney Canada in Longueuil, Quebec invites a motivated student to join the CFL Manufacturing Centre as a logistics intern. You will support the logistics team by monitoring and prioritizing parts and projects on the production line, and help improve tracking with SAP, Excel and Power BI.

You are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, enrolled at a Canadian university, and able to work on-site.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Canadian university throughout internship.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Eligible to work in Canada and able to work on-site in the province.
  • Functional knowledge of English to read and understand technical terms.

Responsibilities

  • Support the logistics team by monitoring and prioritizing parts and projects on the production line.
  • Help improve production tracking using SAP, Excel and Power BI.
  • Provide updates to engineering and management on progress of critical parts.
  • Track parts from production launch through priority parts.
  • Route parts to the appropriate client (engine centre, aftermarket, experimental or NGPF).
  • Plan production scheduling while evaluating machine capacity.
  • Follow up on quality notifications and interact with multiple departments to ensure smooth manufacturing.
  • Initiate and support continuous improvement projects.

The CFL (Longueuil Manufacturing Centre) team is looking for a dynamic, creative, and organized individual who wants to contribute to business objectives related to the manufacturing of P&WC engines in a highly technological environment. Are you ready to take on the challenge?

What will your day-to-day look like?

You will be called upon to support the logistics team in monitoring and prioritizing multiple parts and ongoing projects at the heart of the manufacturing line, in order to help and support the plant. You will contribute to improving production tracking tools using various IT tools such as SAP, Excel, and Power BI.

Your role will allow you to use your communication skills to facilitate the progress of various projects with multiple stakeholders across the company. As part of your daily responsibilities, you will be expected to:

  • Ensure follow-up on work orders in the plant.
  • Provide updates to engineering and management on the progress of critical parts.
  • Track parts from production launch through the progress of priority parts.
  • Route parts to the appropriate client, such as the engine centre, aftermarket, experimental, or NGPF.
  • Analyze priorities for scheduling purposes.
  • Plan production scheduling while evaluating machine capacity.
  • Follow up on and prioritize quality notifications.
  • Interact with several multidisciplinary departments to ensure the smooth manufacturing of parts.
  • Initiate and support continuous improvement projects.
What do you need to be successful?
  • Be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship.
  • Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable.
  • Be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, or any other related field of study.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

This position is in a French-speaking work environment; however, it requires functional knowledge of English in order to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings, and technical terms that may come from international organizations, as well as to write and occasionally communicate in English with customers, suppliers, or international colleagues.
