Role and Facility Information

The Palliative Care Physician Group in Island Health have part‑time or full‑time permanent positions available for a palliative care physician in Port Alberni, BC able to work in a variety of clinical settings including community home visits and a local hospice.

Description Of Role

• Provision of palliative care consults and follow-ups in West Coast General Hospital and the local 4-bed hospice, Ty Watson House.
• Provision of outpatient and home visit palliative care consults within the Port Alberni area with occasional outreach to the west coast of Vancouver Island including Tofino/Ucluelet (driver’s license and car are required)
• Participation in the rural & remote palliative care on-call schedule
• Teaching and supervision of medical learners (requires eligibility for faculty appointment with UBC)

• Fee Premium - 7.98%
• Annual Flat Fee - $12,110.22
• Rural CME starting at $2200/annum in year 3&4 in community, increasing to a maximum of $4400/annum after 4 years.
