Job summary

TC Energy in Canada is seeking a Student Intern to support daily validation, reporting, and analytical activities that back our commercial trading and marketing operations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Economics, Business, Commerce, Mathematics or related field.
• Completion of at least one academic term prior to May 2027 start.
• Returning to full-time studies after the work term.
• Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) for the term.

Responsibilities

• Support daily validation and reporting activities for the commercial trading and marketing organization.
• Monitor and analyze market, trading, and operational data to support business processes.
• Assist with reporting, data management, and analytical activities that support commercial operations.
• Support the preparation and maintenance of recurring reports and business metrics.
• Work with stakeholders to investigate data discrepancies and support resolution activities.
• Develop a working knowledge of natural gas and power market fundamentals, industry terminology, and commercial processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to reporting, analytics, and data quality.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Student Intern to support daily validation, reporting, and analytical activities that support commercial trading and marketing operations.

This role provides hands-on experience working within a mid-office function that supports natural gas and power trading activities. The successful candidate will gain exposure to energy markets, commercial operations, reporting processes, data analysis, and risk monitoring while supporting key business functions and operational decision-making.

What you’ll do

• Support daily validation and reporting activities for the commercial trading and marketing organization

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Economics, Business, Commerce, Mathematics, or related degree program
• Completion of at least one academic term prior to the start of the work term in May 2027
• Returning to full-time studies immediately following the work term
• Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the work term

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of natural gas and power market fundamentals, including industry commercial terms and nomenclature
• Experience interpreting or modifying SQL, Python, or R code
• Experience working with reporting, analytics, or large data sets
• Interest in energy markets, trading, commercial operations, or quantitative analysis
• Demonstrate a safety mindset, in a professional and personal setting
• Exhibit the TC Energy corporate values and incorporate them into work activities and initiatives
• Strong interpersonal and communicative skills to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment
• Commitment to building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to accurately analyze information and deal with ambiguity
