Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Canada is offering an Internship in Engineering – Aircraft Performance for Winter 2027. The role contributes to certified and operational performance data, flight testing activities, and interaction with regulatory authorities to ensure safety and airworthiness.

The intern will develop knowledge of aircraft performance, programming, teamwork and presentation skills, with exposure to CAFM/SCAP software and a UNIX environment.

Qualifications

  • Student in mechanical or aeronautical engineering.
  • Familiarization with aircraft performance concepts is an asset.
  • Programming skills with multiple languages (Fortran, Visual Basic, C++, C#, Python and/or Matlab) and UNIX experience are assets.
  • Strong written and oral communication, teamwork and initiative are valued.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing flight test data and generating certified/operational aircraft performance data (e.g., AFM, QRH, FPCCM).
  • Contribute to performance data for FMS and for sales campaigns.
  • Support development, validation and maintenance of aircraft performance software/tools (CAFM, SCAP).
  • Provide support to Sales and Marketing as needed.

Intern in Engineering – Aircraft Performance

Our team…

The Aircraft Performance team is responsible for providing certified and operational performance data that defines the overall capabilities of our aircraft. We contribute to the development of new or derivative aircraft and support continued airworthiness of in-service aircraft. The team also actively participates in flight testing activities and closely interacts with regulatory authorities to ensure safety and compliance to airworthiness requirements.

What are your contributions to the team?

During your internship, you will contribute to…

  • Support in analyzing flight test data, if applicable
  • Support in generation of certified and/or operational aircraft performance data, for example:
    • Performance data Flight Manuals (AFM, QRH, FPCCM)
    • Performance data for the Flight Management System (FMS)
    • Performance data to support of sales campaigns
  • Support in development, validation and maintenance of aircraft performance software and tools (for example, CAFM, SCAP)
  • Support to Sales and Marketing

What we are looking for…

  • You are a student in mechanical or aeronautical engineering.
  • Familiarization of concepts in aircraft performance, fluid dynamics is an asset.
  • Possesses good programming skills (Fortran, Visual Basic, C++, C#, Python and/or Matlab), as well as working knowledge of a UNIX operating system environment are assets.
  • Have a basic knowledge of aircraft take‑off, landing, and mission performance.
  • Knowledge of MS windows (word, excel, powerpoint) would be an asset.
  • You possess good interpersonal skills in order to work well in a team and interface with other groups, suppliers and management, as well as good written and oral communication skills.
  • You can work independently and demonstrate initiative to achieve the goals established for you.
  • Bilingualism is an asset (French, English) with good verbal and writing skills in English.
