Job summary

EQ Bank, a leading Canadian challenger bank, seeks a Data Science Co-op to transform data into actionable insights supporting customer growth and business objectives. You will analyze customer and campaign data, develop NBA strategies, and build dashboards to monitor key metrics.

You will collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Analytics to advance data-driven decisions, automate data prep, and present insights clearly to stakeholders. This co-op runs January–April 2027 on a hybrid in Toronto.

Qualifications

  • Academic focus in mathematics, statistics, business, or a quantitative discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with PySpark, SQL, or Python.
  • Strong MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer, campaign, and business data to generate insights for onboarding, activation, engagement, and growth.
  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate NBA strategies using analytics and testing.
  • Analyze customer journeys and campaigns to improve experience and performance.
  • Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance tracking tools.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Analytics to drive data-driven decisions.
  • Automate data preparation, reporting, and analytical processes to increase efficiency.
  • Communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Work Term: January - April 2027

The Data Science Co-op assists in transforming data into actionable insights that support customer growth and business objectives. The role contributes to customer analytics, predictive modeling, and performance measurement initiatives that help personalize customer journeys, improve marketing and channel effectiveness, and identify opportunities to enhance customer engagement and profitability.

  • Analyze customer, campaign, and business data to generate insights that support customer onboarding, activation, engagement, and growth strategies.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring, and evaluating Next Best Action (NBA) strategies using analytics, modeling, and testing methodologies.
  • Support the analysis of customer journeys and marketing campaigns to identify opportunities to improve customer experience and business performance.
  • Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance tracking tools to monitor key business metrics.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Product, and Analytics, to support data-driven decision-making and campaign measurement.
  • Help automate and improve data preparation, reporting, and analytical processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Communicate insights and findings in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • An academic focus in mathematics, statistics, business, or a quantitative discipline.
  • Hands on experience withprogramming languagessuch asPySpark, SQL,orPython.
  • Expert in MS Office, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Detail oriented and an ability to propose creative solutions.
  • Capability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize and independently execute assigned work.
  • Team player and resultsoriented.

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from EQ Bank's additional office space located at2200-25 Ontario Street, Toronto, ON.
