Job summary

Bison Transport is seeking an Intermodal Coordinator Dispatch to manage US city drivers within the intermodal segment. You will plan, dispatch, and communicate load assignments to drivers and customer service, ensuring on-time performance and safety.

You'll coordinate with drayage partners, manage equipment turnover, payroll, and ensure adherence to policies. This role requires strong analysis, organization, and relationship-building across diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in dispatch, planning, transportation, logistics, or a related role.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multi‑tasking abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate, collaborate with, and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and assigning US city drivers each day, verbally verifying load assignments, and ensuring drivers have the information they need ahead of time to complete each assignment safely and within service requirements.
  • Updating Visual Dispatch and providing service updates to the customer service representative regarding ETA changes, possible delays, or issues at a customer.
  • Answering driver phone calls and satellite messages in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring city drivers follow Bison procedure and expectations.
  • Managing the utilization of each driver, ensuring they meet minimum efficiency goals.
  • Processing payroll weekly and managing any reimbursements or advances for city drivers.
  • Assigning and tendering loads to drayage partners in the US, ensuring the draymen receive all applicable load information while rates and POs are updated in Maverick.
  • Sourcing additional drayage partners and negotiating rates.
  • Monitoring equipment pools at customers, drop yards, and rail yards to ensure equipment is turning in a timely manner.
  • Assigning the correct equipment type to each load per asset network defined by manager.
  • Reporting damage to containers to the manager and ensuring equipment is spotted at the correct location in Visual Dispatch.

Job description

Intermodal Coordinator Dispatch (ICD) is responsible for managing US based city drivers as they relate to the intermodal business segment. The ICD will plan and dispatch city drivers throughout the US network and will be expected to manage his/her fleet to meet expected LOS. The ICD is expected to uphold Bison’s policies and procedures while managing drivers, drayage providers, and equipment.

Specific Responsibilities

Dispatch and Driver Relations:
