Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated, personable, and very organized Intermediate Wildlife Biologist in our Calgary, AB or Edmonton, AB office, to work in a multi-disciplinary technical team on environmental regulations across a variety of sectors, championing project planning, data collection & analysis, and technical reporting.

Your Responsibilities
  • Conduct wildlife surveys and assessments, providing technical support related to wildlife mitigation and monitoring.
  • Prepare technical reports and relevant sections of environmental assessments in Alberta (and elsewhere in Canada).
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment and independently in wilderness and outdoor settings, including data entry, analysis, management, and report preparation.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff.
Your Capabilities And Credentials
  • Strong understanding of provincial and federal wildlife regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience conducting wildlife surveys and assessments in Alberta.
  • Strong bird identification skills (sight and sound).
  • Experience supporting renewable projects (e.g., bat and bird migration, Post Construction Monitoring Programs) is an asset.
  • Experience in scoping and developing budgets for wildlife surveys and assessments.
  • Ability to work under deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong time-management, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and endure long days of fieldwork while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Excellent navigational and troubleshooting skills in the field.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and good driving record.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Diploma or degree (preferred) in wildlife biology or related field.
  • Professional accreditation (P.Biol., R.P.Bio).
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience including fieldwork.
  • Include detailed information on field skills and safety training (first aid, vehicle operation).

Note: Office work involves computer use; remote field work involves long days, travel, and exposure to weather conditions.
