Qualifications

Landscape Architecture and Planning – Urban Planning / Full Time / Hybrid

How you’ll make a difference :

  • Participate in all aspects of our planning and urban design practice, from early analysis and visioning to the creation of conceptual and policy directions, and recommendations to implement and realize diverse, complex urban environments.
  • Support stakeholder engagement on plans, urban designs, policies, and strategies for public, community, and private clients.
  • Work collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team, engaging a broad range of clients, stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and the public.
  • Participate in projects ranging from site-specific planning to area-wide policy reviews and master plans.
  • Contribute to Transit / TOC planning and campus planning projects.
  • Present at and facilitate stakeholder meetings.
  • Embrace human-centered design and explore practices to enhance DIALOG’s user research and engagement methods.
  • Be adaptable and comfortable with change, responding to varying project needs.
  • Be a self-starter, quick learner, with a positive attitude and entrepreneurial spirit that takes initiative.
  • Embodies DIALOG's values: collaboration, diversity, aspiration, and optimism.

Who you are :

  • Possess 3-10 years of related experience (including educational, volunteer, and professional).
  • A graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in urban design, urban planning, urban studies, urban geography, architecture, landscape architecture, or similar.
  • Project management experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience with InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
  • Experience in facilitating creative and accessible stakeholder and public engagement.
  • Ability to communicate design, programs, and policies effectively through writing, graphics, and speech.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the Ontario Planning Framework; experience with this is an asset.

While not required, you’ll stand out with :

  • Strong graphic representation skills (visualizations and diagrams).
  • Experience with 2D and 3D modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp).
  • Experience with Rhino, Revit, Lumion, Enscape, or other rendering software.
