Job summary

Randstad Canada seeks an Intermediate Systems Testing/QA Specialist for a 5-month onsite contract in Toronto. You will drive QA, test automation, and performance testing for multi-tier enterprise applications, collaborating with developers, analysts, and project leads to ensure quality across GUI and non-GUI environments.

You will build automated UI and API tests, perform load testing, and ensure accessibility compliance (AODA/WCAG).

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on software testing experience in enterprise IT environments.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing methodologies.
• Practical API testing with automation tools (Selenium, Postman).
• Experience with performance testing using JMeter, LoadRunner or similar.
• Defect tracking in Jira, Azure DevOps, ALM or Bugzilla.
• Experience with accessibility testing (AODA/WCAG) and regulatory compliance.
• Strong understanding of Agile (Scrum) and Waterfall methods; knowledge of SQL/Oracle databases and cloud (Azure, AWS).

Responsibilities

• Support test strategy and create comprehensive test plans and scripts across the SDLC.
• Plan and execute end-to-end functional, integration, system, regression, and UAT testing across GUI and non-GUI apps.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for REST API verification (Selenium, Postman).
• Run performance, stress, and load testing to identify bottlenecks and assess scalability.
• Validate data integrity with SQL queries in Oracle/SQL Server; ensure data accuracy.
• Log, track, and retest defects using Jira, Azure DevOps, or ALM.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, GitLab).
• Conduct accessibility testing to meet AODA/WCAG standards.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Intermediate Systems Testing/QA Specialist for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a key quality assurance, test automation, and performance testing capacity, specializing in validating multi-tier enterprise IT applications and complex software systems.

As an Intermediate Systems Testing/QA Specialist, you will bridge the gap between software development teams, business analysts, and project management leads. Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will execute end-to-end testing across GUI and non-GUI environments, build automated UI and API test scripts, perform performance/load testing, and ensure digital interfaces strictly adhere to accessibility standards. This position is ideal for a proactive QA professional with hands‑on experience across manual and automated testing frameworks, backend SQL validation, and Agile delivery models who can ensure continuous software quality and application performance.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and execution of test strategies, comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and detailed test scripts across the SDLC.
• Plan and execute end-to-end functional, integration, system, regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) across GUI and non‑GUI applications.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts and test suites using tools such as Selenium and Postman for REST API verification.
• Execute performance, stress, and load testing using tools like JMeter or LoadRunner to identify system bottlenecks and evaluate scalability.
• Perform backend database testing, writing SQL queries in Oracle and SQL Server to validate data integrity, transformations, and record accuracy.
• Identify, isolate, document, track, and retest software defects through resolution using tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or ALM.
• Integrate automated test scripts into continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Git, or GitLab.
• Conduct accessibility testing to ensure digital products comply with AODA regulations and WCAG accessibility standards.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, retrospectives) to clarify requirements and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Maintain clear test documentation, execution logs, defect tracking metrics, test coverage matrices, and release notes.

Qualifications

Core Technical & Quality Assurance Requirements

• Quality Assurance Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands‑on software testing experience in enterprise‑level IT environments and large‑scale systems.
• Manual & Automated Testing: Solid working experience in both manual testing methodologies and automated testing tools and frameworks.
• Automation & API Tooling: Practical experience using test automation tools such as Selenium or Postman for API testing.
• Performance Testing: Experience developing and executing performance test scripts using tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar utilities.
• Defect Management & Tools: Hands‑on experience with defect tracking platforms like Jira, Azure DevOps, ALM, or Bugzilla.
• Accessibility Compliance: Practical experience with AODA testing and digital accessibility standards.
• Methodologies & Databases: Strong understanding of Agile (Scrum) and Waterfall methodologies, alongside working knowledge of databases (SQL, Oracle) and cloud technologies (Azure, AWS).

Preferred Assets & Technical Capabilities

• CI/CD Integration: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (Jenkins, Git, GitLab).
• Scripting Languages: Basic understanding of scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Bash) for test data setup or automation scripts.
• Public Sector Experience: Prior experience with public sector quality assurance standards and practices is considered an asset.
