Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Intermediate Structural Technologist to join our Calgary, Alberta team. You will prepare drawings and 3D models for municipal, commercial, and industrial projects using Revit and CAD, coordinating with project managers and technical staff throughout design through construction.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in structural technology, strong Revit/AutoCAD skills, and a focus on sustainable design.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in structural technology or related field.
  • Experience with Revit and CAD software.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering drawings and 3D models for municipal, commercial, and industrial buildings using Revit and CAD.
  • Coordinate drawings with project managers and technical staff.
  • Review submittals and assist with contract administration documentation.
  • Support project delivery from design through construction.

We are seeking an Intermediate Structural Technologist to join our team.

Our team regularly collaborates on projects across North America. The successful candidate should be comfortable working and collaborating on a variety of different projects with team members across North America. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player that is excited about taking on a new challenge. The successful candidate will be based in one of our Calgary, Edmonton, or Red Deer, AB offices.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare engineering drawings and create models for municipal, commercial, and industrial buildings projects using Revit and other related CAD software.

  • Prepare presentation graphics and report figures.

  • Coordinate project drawings with project managers, technical staff, and others.

  • Complete model reviews and collaborate with other technical disciplines.

  • Ensure that the project's needs are met in a timely and effective manner.

  • Working within the project team from initial design to construction completion.

  • Support contract administration personnel by reviewing submittals, shop drawings, and producing contract administration documentation.

  • Understand and adhere to Stantec and client standards.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Effective communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.

  • A willingness to work and learn in a team atmosphere.

  • Highly organized, have significant attention to detail, able to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

  • Experience with MS Office Suite including Word, and Excel.

  • Interest in applying new technologies to deliver projects.

  • Experience in the following software and tools is considered essential: - Autodesk BIM 360, Forma

  • AutoCAD

  • Revit

  • Bluebeam

  • Microsoft applications - Teams, Office Suite of software

  • Working knowledge of construction activities, materials, and products

  • Knowledge in current design trends of sustainable design and embodied carbon.

Education and Experience
  • An applicable construction focused Technology Diploma from a recognized technical school.

  • Experience and familiarity with buildings disciplines and/or an education background in these areas.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
