Job summary

ENTRUST Canada is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our substation engineering team in Calgary. You will lead and mentor the civil team, review designs for compliance, and liaise with other disciplines to develop robust design packages and documentation.

You will be responsible for IFC drawings, construction scopes, and providing engineering support during construction, with a focus on earthworks, foundations, and structural aspects of substation projects. Travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in utilities civil design of high voltage substation facilities.
• B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and registered as an active member with APEGA.
• P.Eng is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the substation civil team and review designs for compliance.
• Prepare design documentation such as DBM and EDS, include cost estimates and scopes of work.
• Prepare IFC drawings, write construction scopes of work, and support during construction phases.
• Oversee As-Built drawings, project close-out data, earthworks, foundations, geotechnical and structural aspects.
• Provide technical guidance to design teams and maintain client relationships.

ENTRUST Canada is looking for a Civil Engineer to join our substation engineering team in Calgary. We offer a dynamic work environment with a highly experienced technical team, where you’ll receive guidance, hands-on training, and continuous challenges in all aspects of engineering and design.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll lead and mentor the substation civil team, review designs for compliance, and collaborate with other disciplines. You’ll also prepare key documents like Design Basis Memorandum (DBM), Engineering Design Specification (EDS), cost estimates, material take offs, scopes of work, and create design packages. We’ll rely on you to promote safety in all design work.

Your responsibilities will include preparing Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, writing construction scopes of work, and providing engineering support during construction phases. You’ll oversee the preparation of As-Built drawings and project close-out data, support earthworks, foundation, and structural aspects of substation engineering, and offer technical guidance to design teams.

Tracking project progress, providing weekly updates to senior management, and maintaining in-depth knowledge of client and industry standards are also part of your role. Additionally, you’ll conduct quality control reviews, develop new tools and processes, and complete cost estimates for bids. In addition to doing technical work, you’ll work closely with clients and maintain excellent relationships.
