ENTRUST Solutions Group Canada, a Leidos company, is seeking a Distribution Designer in Calgary to join a dynamic engineering team. You will design overhead and underground distribution systems, collaborate with clients, and contribute to project planning, estimation, and field surveys.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in distribution project design.
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering or related field as described in qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop new overhead and underground distribution designs.
• Prepare estimates, material takeoffs, scopes of work, and designs.
• Perform electrical and structural calculations using industry tools.
• Produce survey and construction packages using Office 365, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Conduct site visits for field reconnaissance and inspections.
• Collaborate with clients and team members to meet quality, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Assist in engineering reports and specialized assignments.

Join Our Team as a Distribution Technician in Calgary!

ENTRUST Solutions Group Canada, a Leidos company is an engineering consulting firm with offices in Calgary and Regina that provides design and engineering services to the electric power delivery industry. Our expertise includes all aspects of Transmission, Substation and Distribution systems for voltages ranging from 4160V to 500kV.

ENTRUST Canada is currently seeking a Distribution Designer to join our team. Operating with a high degree of autonomy you will work within engineering teams to deliver overhead and underground distribution line design projects for utility and industrial customers. Leading a small, focused engineering team may also be involved. This position would appeal to individuals who enjoy working closely with clients and engaging hands-on in solving technical and logistical problems to achieve successful outcomes. Responsibilities:

• Develop new overhead and underground designs by applying knowledge of distribution electrical systems construction, operation, and maintenance.
• Prepare estimates, material take offs, scopes of work, and designs using client standards, industry codes and practices, and internal MHV procedures.
• Complete electrical and structural engineering calculations using industry and client tools such as PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc, ALD, DSA, DCSM, and DAD.
• Produce survey and construction packages using industry and client software such as Office 365, ArcGIS, AutoCAD/MicroStation, PLS-CADD, AM/FM, and Passport.
• Conduct site visits for field reconnaissance during the project design phase and field inspections during the project construction phase.
• Effectively collaborate with clients, external stakeholders, and internal team members to produce engineering products that meet quality, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Complete specialized technical assignments and assist in the preparation of engineering reports.

Qualifications:

• 1 year experience in distribution project design.
• Electrical or Civil Engineering Technology diploma, Power Lineman certificate with design experience, or Electrical or Civil Engineering degree.
• Ability to work in design teams and perform assigned tasks with limited supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exemplary customer service skill.
• Proven attention to detail, and skill in organization and time management in the successful completion of tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
• Strong computer skills including virtual private networks, and the ability to efficiently learn new software packages.
• Commitment to continuous learning and development.
• Project management experience is an asset.
• Design experience with transmission lines or substations is an asset.
• Experience using PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, or MicroStation is an asset.
