Job summary

CIMA+’s Buildings team in Mississauga is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to lead and shape projects across commercial, institutional, educational and some industrial sectors. This hybrid role can be based in Bowmanville or Mississauga, with 2 days in-office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and PEO membership are required or in process.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in design, construction and project management of structural buildings.
  • Ontario Building Code knowledge and Canadian design standards are essential.
  • Experience leading structural design within multidisciplinary teams is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to visit sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee or contribute to structural design of diverse buildings.
  • Prepare technical drawings and specifications.
  • Complete condition assessments of existing infrastructure and buildings
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and ensure QA/QC compliance
  • Prepare proposals and lead design of concrete, steel, and mass timber structures

We have an exciting opportunity for a Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Mississauga based team. In this role, you will leverage your experience to lead and shape projects across various sectors, including commercial, institutional, educational and some industrial.

This is a hybrid role that could be based out of either our Bowmanville office or Mississauga offices (2 days at the office).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Oversee or directly contribute to the structural design of buildings including commercial, institutional, educational, sports & recreation, healthcare, airports, transportation, and industrial.
  • Preparation of technical drawings and specifications
  • Complete condition assessments of existing infrastructure and buildings
  • Work with the project team from conceptual and preliminary stages of design through to completion
  • Ensure compliance to the quality assurance and control program
  • Manage the work of team of junior engineers and technologists
  • Manage structurally design on multi disciplinary projects
  • Prepare proposals
  • Lead design of concrete, steel, and mass timber structures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in design, construction and project management of structural buildings projects
  • Membership as Engineer from Professional Engineer Ontario (PEO)
  • PSPC Reliability Clearance is an asset
  • Experience leading structural design of buildings while working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Team Spirit - Able to work with multi disciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software and design tools (eg SAP2000 or similar)
  • In depth knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and Canadian design standards.
  • Autonomy, initiative, and strong teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (for site visits, as required).
