Job summary

Blackline Safety in Calgary, AB, is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to cover maternity leave. You will lead CI initiatives across multiple lines to boost yield, throughput, and efficiency, and collaborate with product development and quality teams.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in manufacturing/process engineering, strong hands-on troubleshooting, and experience with Lean/Six Sigma, CAD tools such as SolidWorks, and data analysis using MySQL or Power BI. Hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 7+ years in manufacturing or process engineering.
  • Lean/Six Sigma and NPI exposure.
  • Experience with gas detection, PCBA, injection molding, radio tech, and metalwork is assets.

Responsibilities

  • Champion continuous improvement to raise yield, throughput, and productivity.
  • Root-cause analyses with Product Development, Quality and others; ensure resolution.
  • Create docs, procedures, and design processes to standardize operations.
  • Coordinate engineering changes in production.
  • Develop or source fixturing, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform time studies and line design audits to identify gaps.
  • Prepare manufacturing process readiness for new product launches.

Job description

Manufacturing Process Engineer

Please note that this role is to cover for a maternity leave.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a champion for continuous improvement activities to increase yield, throughput, and productivity in multiple manufacturing lines, and own their ongoing technical health
  • Engage with Product Development, Quality and other disciplines to complete root-cause analyses of issues in product or process and ensure resolution
  • Create documentation, procedures, and design processes to standardize manufacturing operations
  • Coordinate the implementation of engineering changes in production
  • Develop or source fixturing, tools, and other equipment to aid in manufacturing tasks
  • Complete time studies and manufacturing process line design audits identify gaps from standards and drive process improvement opportunities
  • Drive manufacturing process readiness for new product introduction launches
About You
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field)
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in manufacturing or process engineering
  • Experience in manufacturing line design, operations project management, and new product launches
  • Excellent mechanical, electronics, and process troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with gas detection, PCBA manufacturing, injection molding, radio technologies, gas detection, and metalwork are all assets
  • Data acquisition and analysis experience using databases is an asset (MySQL, Power BI)
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD tools
  • Ability to rapidly prioritize and balance conflicting priorities
  • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment and Six Sigma certification
  • Exceptional ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing
Safety Shoe Requirement

This position requires the use of CSA Grade 1 toe protection safety footwear. Applicants must have access to a pair of safety footwear that meets this requirement prior to starting employment.
