Job summary

STUDIO PAOLO FERRARI in Toronto is seeking an Intermediate / Senior Industrial Designer to lead the development of custom furniture, fixtures and product design for hospitality and luxury interiors.

You will translate concepts into buildable designs through 3D modeling, technical documentation and close collaboration with fabricators, vendors and interior teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related discipline.
• Minimum 5+ years professional experience.
• Strong materials knowledge and fabrication methods.
• Experience in hospitality or luxury interiors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to design research across precedent, vendors, materials, fabrication methods, and emerging cultural/design references aligned with project vision.
• Collaborates with vendors, fabricators, and consultants to review materials, fabrication methods, prototypes, and technical details.
• Demonstrates strong understanding of furniture construction methods, joinery, material behavior, fabrication techniques, and manufacturing processes.
• Contributes to conceptual exploration through studies, imagery, sketching and design refinement exercises.
• Participates actively in internal reviews, design coordination meetings, consultant meetings and presentation preparation.
• Coordinates with interior design teams to integrate furniture development within overall project execution.

The Intermediate / Senior Industrial Designer leads the development, coordination, and execution of custom furniture, fixtures, and product design within hospitality and luxury interior environments. With

extensive professional experience, this role is responsible for driving design development from

concept through fabrication and implementation, balancing strong creative vision with technical

expertise and production knowledge.

Working closely with project leads, interior designers, fabricators, consultants, vendors, and external

collaborators, the Intermediate / Senior Industrial Designer translates conceptual ideas into highly resolved, technically sophisticated, and buildable design solutions. This role requires a high level of design

sensibility, technical problem-solving ability, organization, and confidence managing complex project

scopes within fast-paced multidisciplinary environments.

With minimum 5+ years professional experience, this role contributes to concept development, design refinement, 3D modeling, technical documentation, material research, vendor coordination, and presentation deliverables across multiple project phases.

• Advanced proficiency in Solid Works, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp (considered an asset)
