Socket.dev, based in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. You will design and input to power utilization systems, develop electrical deliverables, and contribute to FAT/commissioning activities on diverse projects.

We value collaboration, quality work, and professional growth, with a hybrid work location and opportunities across North America. A PE license and strong knowledge of codes are preferred.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of electrical discipline experience.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Registered professional engineer with APEGA.
• Solid understanding of codes, standards, guidelines and best practices.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks from start to finish independently.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and time management.

Responsibilities

• Design input for power utilization systems in utilities, industrial and facilities.
• Develop electrical deliverables: single line diagrams, schematics, lighting layouts, BOMs, etc.
• Perform electrical system studies: Short Circuit, Load Flow, Lighting, Grounding, Arc Flash.
• Review vendor/subcontractor drawings for accuracy and coordination.
• Support FATs and Testing & Commissioning as needed; participate in reviews.
• Attend HAZOPs, Model Reviews and Constructability Reviews as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design and provide input to projects regarding power utilization system in utilities, industrial, facilities equipment and systems.


• Develop project electrical deliverables and critical documents including: single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable tray layouts, cable schedules, junction box layouts, bill of materials, lighting and grounding layouts, control panel layouts, instrument layouts and instrument indices, and area classification drawings.


• Perform electrical system studies such as :- Short Circuit, Load flow, Load Study, Lighting Study, Grounding & Lightning Studies, Arc Flash etc.


• Review vendor and subcontractor quotes and drawings for accuracy


• Provided assistance with Factrory Acceptance Tests FAT and Testing & Commissioning of projects facilities as needed


• Attends and participates in HAZOPs, Model Reviews and Constructability Reviews as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of electrical discipline experience


• Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited University


• Registered professional engineer with APEGA


• Proficiency and a solid understanding of all pertinent codes, standards, guidelines and best practices


• Ability to take responsibility for a variety of tasks and follow through from initialization to completion independently


• Excellent written and oral communication skills


• Excellent time management skills
