Tetranex Solutions in Lethbridge, AB, is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team and grow the local engineering presence alongside Calgary colleagues.

The role leads electrical scope on mid-size projects, mentors junior designers, and coordinates with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency with ETAP and SKM Power Tools is required, and P.Eng. with APEGA is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering Degree with 5–15 years in an EPC environment.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA; BC/SK/MB assets a plus.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems and studies.
  • Proficiency in ETAP and SKM Power Tools; strong Word/Excel skills.
  • Self-directed, decisive, and able to manage end-to-end projects.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites and meet clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical scope on mid-size projects and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Specify, select, and procure electrical equipment and protective systems.
  • Develop single-line diagrams and area classifications; review vendor drawings.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers; write scopes of work and work packages.

Position Description

Tetranex is currently seeking a full-time Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Lethbridge, Alberta. This is an exciting opportunity to help grow our Lethbridge engineering presence while collaborating with our established Calgary engineering group.

The successful candidate will work alongside our local engineering team, including an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer, and will report to an Electrical Engineering Manager based in our Calgary head office.

Responsibilities:
  • Specify, select, and support the procurement of electrical equipment, including switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, UPS systems, generators, heat trace controllers, harmonic filters, electrical buildings, and induction motors.
  • Support mechanical engineers in the specification of equipment such as pumps, compressors, and process equipment packages.
  • Review and mark-up vendor drawings with the full understanding of how they integrate with the project.
  • Prepare load lists, electrical equipment lists and other calculations to support the sizing and specification of equipment.
  • Perform power system studies such as short circuit, coordination, arc flash, harmonic mitigation, and transient motor starting, using applicable software such as ETAP and SKM Power Tools.
  • Develop VFD, relay, and other protection settings as required for a project start-up.
  • Produce single line diagrams for medium and low voltage industrial power systems.
  • Prepare area classification drawings and details, and conduct fugitive emissions studies.
  • Oversee and support the electrical designers in developing full electrical drawing packages.
  • Write scope of work documents and create construction work packages.
  • Facilitate field construction and fabrication tasks.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members and designers.
  • Lead the electrical scope of small and medium-sized projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors, and construction personnel.
Requirements:
  • An Electrical Engineering Degree with approximately 5-15 years of experience working in an EPC environment.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA (Alberta). Registration in other provinces such as British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba would be an asset but not a requirement.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems, including medium and low voltage power distribution, protection systems, and electrical studies.
  • Ability to use ETAP and SKM Power Tools.
  • Strong capabilities using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong self-direction and decision‑making skills to manage end‑to‑end projects independently as required.
  • Skilled in prioritizing workloads and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites to scope out projects and meet with clients and construction personnel.
