Job description

Torus Talent is supporting a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in their search for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing Calgary office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced consulting engineer who enjoys combining technical engineering with project leadership, client interaction, and mentorship. Working alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across oil & gas and other heavy industrial sectors throughout Western Canada.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering projects from concept through detailed design, construction, and commissioning while supporting client relationships, mentoring junior engineers, and helping grow the Calgary team.

Further Responsibilities Include the Following
  • Lead electrical engineering scopes across industrial and infrastructure projects.
  • Design low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems for heavy industrial facilities.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and technical reports.
  • Support projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Coordinate electrical deliverables with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while providing technical guidance throughout project execution.
  • Lead or support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and overall project delivery.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and designers while supporting their professional development.
  • Participate in field investigations, site reviews, commissioning, and construction support activities.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, company procedures, and health & safety requirements.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • P.Eng. designation with APEGA (or eligibility for immediate registration).
  • Approximately 8–15+ years of consulting engineering experience.
  • Strong background designing industrial electrical systems, particularly low- and medium-voltage power distribution.
  • Previous consulting engineering experience is required (owner-side experience alone will not be sufficient).
  • Experience working on oil & gas projects is preferred, although candidates from mining, utilities, pipelines, water treatment, power generation, or other heavy industrial sectors are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and work directly with clients.
  • Previous experience mentoring junior engineers or a genuine interest in coaching and developing others.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high-quality technical deliverables.
Why This Firm
  • Join a growing Calgary office with an expanding portfolio of industrial projects.
  • Work on technically challenging brownfield and greenfield projects across multiple heavy industrial sectors.
  • Opportunity to take ownership of projects while building long-term client relationships.
  • Collaborative multidisciplinary environment with experienced technical leaders.
  • Strong emphasis on mentorship, professional development, and internal career progression.
  • Opportunity to grow into Project Manager, Lead Engineer, or technical leadership positions.
  • Hybrid work environment offering flexibility.
  • Competitive compensation package, comprehensive health and dental benefits, RRSP matching, generous vacation allowance, and long-term career stability.
