Job description

Urban Form Studio Inc. is a small architecture firm that focuses on large mid-rise wood-frame residential projects throughout Ontario. Reporting to the Principal Architect, the successful candidate will work closely with the Project Team from project inception to owner takeover, and is capable of producing cohesive construction drawings and managing projects through construction contract administration. The candidate will have an eye for design and a passion for improving the built environment, while understanding value engineering and client budgetary requirements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate and lead coordination meetings involving clients, consultants, and the authorities having jurisdiction
• Prepare materials for client review, design development, construction drawings, contract administration, and AHJ submissions
• Maintain knowledge on current building codes, design trends, building sciences, and relevant technical software
• Must be capable of working on 3-5 projects at one time
• Must be capable of managing deadlines
• Ability to travel and conduct site reviews when necessary. The majority of project sites are located in Kingston and Ottawa.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a Licensed Architect with the OAA
• Must have a minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience
• Experience designing and detailing large wood-frame projects
• Must have experience designing Part 3 residential projects
• Proficient in producing contract documents in Revit. A strong knowledge of BIM Coordination is highly preferred
• Must also have software experience in AutoCAD and Bluebeam. Experience in Project Management Software such as Fieldwire would be an asset.
• Well organized and capable of guiding a team of junior staff
