Job summary

Definity is actively seeking a capable Claims Adjuster to manage a portfolio of Intermediate Bodily Injury claims. You will investigate, negotiate, and settle claims while coordinating with underwriting and leadership to achieve fair outcomes.

You will bring 3+ years in claims handling, familiarity with MS Office, and strong written and verbal communication. A bilingual edge (English/French or other languages) and multi-provincial licensing are assets in a dynamic, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • University degree, college diploma, or CIP designation.
  • Minimum 3 years of claims handling experience, auto adjusting preferred.
  • Bilingualism in English and French or other languages is an asset.
  • Licensed in multiple provinces is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of Intermediate Bodily Injury Claims.
  • Engage stakeholders in effective management of a claim (underwriting and senior leadership).
  • Confirm policy coverages; investigate liability and quantum; maintain detailed records.
  • Attend mediations, pre-trials and settlement initiatives.
  • Settle claims directly with Plaintiff’s Counsel; direct and instruct Defence Counsel.
  • Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Leader, National Casualty and Bodily Injury Claims, you have a track record of progressively challenging claims handling. You will be accountable for the investigation, negotiation and settlement of Intermediate Third-Party Bodily Injury claims. You are motivated by a challenge and strive to continually develop yourself and others. You actively support change and seek to improve. You have effectively managed a portfolio of Automobile Bodily Injury, or Accident Benefit Claims, or Automobile PD Claims of increasing complexity. You continually support the Team environment and raise your hand to assist others. You have a desire to be part of a diverse, highly engaged and high-performance team.

What to Expect
  • Reporting to the Team Leader, Casualty, you are accountable for managing a portfolio of Intermediate Bodily Injury Claims.
  • Engage all stakeholders in the effective management of a claim including underwriting and senior leadership
  • Confirming policy coverages, investigating claims to determine liability and quantum. Maintaining detailed file records.
  • Attending/participating in mediations, pre-trials and settlement initiatives.
  • Settle claims directly with Plaintiff’s Counsel.

What You Bring
  • University degree, a college diploma or the CIP designation
  • Minimum 3 years of claims handling experience, auto adjusting experience preferred.

Salary Range: $51,300 - $94,400

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.
