Job summary

Stantec in Fredericton, NB seeks an Intermediate Mechanical/Piping Designer for the Integrated Design team. You will work on diverse energy projects across North America and beyond, focusing on technical growth and collaboration.

You will perform design tasks with minimal supervision, contribute to multidisciplinary teams, and develop drawings using AutoCAD and 3D tools. Strong communication and 5+ years of experience are preferred, bilingual French/English is a plus.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial consulting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Bilingual French and English is an asset.
• Ability to work in evolving technology environments.

Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Intermediate Mechanical/Piping Designer to join the Integrated Design team. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work on a variety of projects within the Energy and Resource sector ranging from studies to detail engineering projects in North America and across the world. This role provides an opportunity to be part of a diverse team while focusing on technical growth.

As a Mechanical/Piping Designer, you will be responsible for working on various industrial projects. This role involves design work under minimal supervision. You will be relied on to make sound mechanical designs and to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply design skills to prepare or coordinate contract drawings, sketches, and concept designs through to construction.
• Collaborate with Mechanical group members, other Stantec disciplines and clients to achieve project success.
• Successfully carry out assignments on project design teams.
• Effectively communicate with other team members in the department or project team.
• Provide technical expertise, mentoring and support to Junior team members.
• Prepare drawings using AutoCAD, Plant3D, Cadworx, Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, AvevaE3D, MicroStation, etc.
• 3D modeling and design of piping and mechanical systems.
• Collect data and verify information in client facilities.
• Prepare isometric drawings.
• Represent field and interpret drawings.

Capabilities & Credentials

• At least 5 years’ experience in the industrial consulting industry.
• Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
• Strong collaborative skills while working with a single or multi‑discipline team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Understanding the importance of complying with Stantec’s Employee Health and Safety (EH&S) program, with a focus on safety in the field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Windows, Word, Excel and Access is an asset.
• Ability to work in an environment of constantly changing technology and project assignments.

Education & Experience

• Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 5 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range

• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario: $78,900.00 – $114,400.00 Annually

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed‑upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
