Job summary

Callidus Engineering Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with 5–10 years in building services to join our London, ON area offices (also Kitchener or Kingston).

You will contribute to designing and drafting mechanical systems for buildings, and collaborate with cross‑office teams. The role requires a university degree in Mechanical Engineering, familiarity with AutoCAD, and strong leadership and communication skills to manage multi‑discipline coordination and field reviews during

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required.
• 5–10 years experience in mechanical engineering.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design and drafting duties: setting up drawings and backgrounds.
• Produce drawings with input from senior staff and perform heat transfer calculations.
• Size heating/cooling equipment, pipes, and duct systems; design fire protection layouts.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors and sales reps; prepare project documentation.
• Conduct field reviews and construction administration (shop drawings, RFIs, CCNs, monthly draws).

Responsibilities Include:

• Mechanical Design and Drafting
  • Setting up drawings and backgrounds
  • Drafting mark-ups provided by senior staff
  • Heat transfer calculations
  • Heating and cooling equipment sizing
  • Pipe sizing and pump selection
  • Sizing pipes for domestic water and sanitary drain systems
  • Sizing duct systems for air distribution
  • Layout of fire protection systems
• Communicate with clients, contractors and sales reps, prepare project documentation and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct field reviews and construction administration (shop drawings, RFIs, CCNs, monthly draws, etc) and interact with installing trades during construction.

Required experience:

• Candidates with 5-10 years experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Familiarity with AutoCAD
• Pro-active approach to work assignments and opportunities
• Ability to multi-task and be organized, especially under the stress of deadlines
