Job summary

TRS Staffing Solutions has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Material Handling Designer to work for one of Canada's top employers in the Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management industry.

The role covers designing and arranging mechanical systems, creating accurate 2D drawings from 3D models, and developing detailed 3D models for material-handling equipment, with collaboration across remote and local teams to ensure practical installation and maintenance access.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience developing 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings.
• Strong understanding of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software and technical drafting practices.
• Experience with SolidWorks, SP3D, MicroStation, or similar design platforms is an asset.
• Knowledge of fabrication, manufacturing, conveyors, or material handling systems is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with remote and local teams.

Responsibilities

• Support design coordination by communicating technical information and feedback.
• Assist in the design and arrangement of mechanical systems considering requirements and constraints.
• Produce accurate 2D drawings from 3D models with proper annotations.
• Contribute to drafting quality and design efficiency improvements.

• Assist in the design and arrangement of mechanical systems by considering equipment functionality, process requirements, and site constraints.
• Produce accurate 2D fabrication and construction drawings from 3D models, ensuring appropriate dimensions, annotations, and drafting standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting quality, design efficiency, and engineering deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to support equipment layout development, ensuring practical installation, operation, and maintenance access.
• Review and update design documentation throughout project lifecycles to maintain accuracy and consistency with project requirements.
• Develop detailed 3D mechanical models for fabricated equipment, structural components, and material-handling systems.
