SpruceLab is seeking a new team member to work as an Intermediate Landscape Architect as they continue to expand the firm’s portfolio across Canada. This is a critical position on the technical design team that provides landscape architectural services across a broad spectrum of landscape types and locations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce landscape architectural works (drawings, graphics, presentations, reports, etc.)
- Lead quality control in terms of drawing review and mentoring of intermediate and junior landscape design staff
- Work on place-based design and sustainable site design (including nature-based solutions)
- Creation and/or review of landscape specifications and related contract documents
- On-site contract administration related to landscape architectural services
- Prepare formal meeting notes and minutes as needed
- Support senior management in tasks related to invoicing for services rendered, as well as support for community and stakeholder engagement
- Plan and facilitate design workshops, focus groups, open houses etc.
- Create presentations for projects at engagement meetings and events
- Contribute to the writing of proposals (including fee estimates)
- Represent SpruceLab as needed (e.g. public meetings/talks related to landscape architect’s projects at an intermediate level)
- Collaborate with colleagues to support partners, including not-for-profits
- Support senior management in the search for new projects and clients
- Help implement SpruceLab communications and marketing efforts
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong communication abilities as well as critical thinking skills
- Motivated commitment to sustainability
- Experience or an interest in working with Indigenous Peoples is considered an asset.
- Minimum 10-15 years producing landscape architectural drawings from concept phase to contract administration (including construction experience) is required.
- In general, willingness to travel to support projects is required.
- Professional education in landscape architectural technology or landscape architecture is required.
- Experience drafting with Vectorworks Landmark (drawing plans, sections) is preferred.
