Intermediate Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

Your Role:

We are seeking an Intermediate Instrumentation and Controls Engineer for our Pickering, Ontario office. Under supervision, perform engineering assignments requiring broad engineering knowledge. Participate in work planning to achieve objectives. The following outlines the key responsibilities and requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform conceptual and detailed engineering of I&C systems.
  • Size, select, and specify I&C equipment; produce related documentation.
  • Contribute to engineering drawings such as General Arrangements, Instrument Loops, Wiring diagrams, BOM, etc.
  • Maintain effective customer contact and relationships.
  • Assist in defining and monitoring work scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Participate in client facility walk-downs.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from clients, reviewers, and regulators.
  • Prepare and verify procurement activities and deliverables, review bids and submissions, and perform inspections as needed.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and quality in documentation per QA standards.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, or Electromechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with PEO as a P.ENG.
  • At least 5 years of experience in I&C system design, installation, maintenance, and operation.
  • Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and field instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, communication protocols, power supplies, transducers, PID controllers, relays, and electrical components.
  • Experience with schematic tools, BOM generation, and electrical subsystems is desirable.
  • Experience in nuclear power plant electrical/control system design is an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (ASME, CSA, IEEE, ISA).
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and under tight schedules. Must obtain security clearance.
