A fast-growing startup HVAC OEM is growing like a rocket ship and hiring a Senior Controls Engineer. This role will play a leading role in their Toronto engineering team.

The company develops and manufactures HE commercial air systems to promote health and wellness of sustainable buildings and their people. They create electric air systems with a focus on energy recovery and sustainability to be mindful of health and climate challenges.

The Senior Controls Engineer partners with the engineering manager to develop HVAC controls, tests and integrates components, and related support of ERVs and DOAS units.

Logistics : Hybrid in Toronto

Salary : $110 000 to $140 000+

Here's what you'll be doing :

• Develop PLC / DDC software for ERV and DOAS systems.
• Make necessary modifications to controls systems as needed to support end users.
• Troubleshoot and eliminate control system issues.
• Develop training material for startup and commissioning of equipment.
• Provide training to representatives and technicians.
• Develop and test control algorithms at the Toronto laboratory for use in the DDC controller.
• Assist in the development of HMI code and testing.
• Maintain an understanding of Building Automation Systems and Intelligent Operation of HVAC Equipment.
• Liaise between customers and sales, production and applications teams.
• Create and document standard operating procedures, keeping them accurate and up to date.
• Participate in new product introductions to sales teams and customers.
• Occasional travel on-site within Canada and the U.S.

Here's what you'll need :

• Relevant Engineering Degree
• Must have experience in the HVAC industry.
• 7-10+ years’ experience working with control systems.
• Experience with PLC and HMI operation and programming, testing and building automation, with exposure to Python, C++, or Java.
• Strong understanding of electrical circuits and components.
• Able to read electrical diagrams and to troubleshoot control panels.
• Knowledge of ECM motors, sensors, and communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet).
