SRK Consulting's Vancouver office seeks a Geo/Geotechnical engineer to join the Rock Mechanics team on a permanent, full-time basis. The role involves international projects with travel and close collaboration with mining engineers.

You will apply rock mechanics principles from conceptual studies to advanced design for surface and underground mines, with independence in a small team, and potential professional registration pathways.

Qualifications

• Degree in geological, mining or geotechnical engineering.
• 3–8 years of relevant experience; open pit/underground mining experience beneficial.
• Experience in geotechnical logging, mapping and rock mass characterization.
• Proficiency in geological modelling software.
• Fundamental skills in 2D/3D geotechnical modelling.
• Hydrogeology experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and remotely within a small team under leadership of a Senior/Principal Consultant.
• Professional registration or the eligibility to obtain it.

Description

SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will consult on projects for mostly international clients, requiring travel. Assignments will include geotechnical characterization and applying rock mechanics principles to both surface and underground mine design issues. This work will involve full project scopes from conceptual studies to advanced design and operations liaising closely with mining engineers and other technical specialists.

Essential Requirements

• A degree in geological, mining or geotechnical engineering.
• 3 to 8 years of relevant experience; open pit/underground operating mine experience is considered beneficial.
• Practical experience in geotechnical logging, mapping and rock mass characterization.
• Proficiency in geological modelling software.
• Fundamental understanding of basic operating skills in 2D/3D geotechnical numerical modelling packages.
• Hydrogeology experience is considered an asset.
• The ability to work independently and remotely within a small team under the leadership of a Senior/Principal Consultant.
• Professional registration or the eligibility to obtain it.

This position involves working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects both nationally and overseas; international travel may form a significant part of the role.

Benefits and Pay

The estimated base pay range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000. The salary offered will be commensurate with relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.
