Job summary

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer in Sudbury, Ontario, to contribute to transportation, municipal, industrial, and land development projects. You will provide geotechnical expertise from site investigations through design and construction support.

Your role will involve collaborative problem solving with multi‑disciplinary teams. Ideal candidates have several years of hands‑on geotechnical experience, a relevant engineering degree, and progress toward or attainment of a P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on geotechnical engineering experience.
• A degree in Geological, Geotechnical, or Civil Engineering and progression toward (or attainment of) a P.Eng. designation in Ontario.
• Comfortable conducting field work, geotechnical investigations, and construction‑phase reviews.
• Proficient with tools such as SLOPE/W, Settle3, PLAXIS, or equivalent geotechnical modelling software.
• Motivated by delivering practical engineering solutions that strengthen communities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clear, technically sound analyses and recommendations that guide major decisions for transportation, municipal, industrial, and land development projects.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, design briefs, and construction‑phase guidance to support successful project delivery.
• Collaborate with structural, civil, environmental, and materials engineering teams to integrate geotechnical insight into multidisciplinary designs.
• Conduct site visits, field reviews, drilling oversight, and QA/QC activities to ensure accuracy and safety of field programs.
• Apply geotechnical design software and numerical modelling tools to evaluate soil‑structure interaction and optimize project outcomes.
• Contribute to sustainable design approaches that reduce environmental impact and improve long‑term resilience.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 - $102,500

MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $69,900 – $92,900
