Job summary

Bedrock Homes, part of the Carrington Group, seeks an Intermediate Estimator for Edmonton, AB. You will produce cost estimates for single-family projects across Alberta, perform quantity takeoffs, and support budgeting efforts from early design through development.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of residential estimating in Alberta, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to read specs and blueprints. Knowledge of Homefront is a plus; legal work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Completed post-secondary degree or diploma in Building, Construction Management, Architectural Technologies, or related field.
• Five or more years estimating experience for residential construction in Alberta.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Working knowledge of Homefront is desired.
• Ability to read and interpret building specifications and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate cost estimates for a variety of projects at various stages of development.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs for incorporation into cost estimates.
• Complete estimates required for construction budgeting.
• Review change orders and interior selection packages for accuracy before start date.
• Prepare material take offs and labour/equipment cost estimations for projects.
• Review customized price quotes and finalize retail pricing.
• Create and adjust model assemblies in estimating software for new projects.
• Other related Estimating duties as assigned.

About the Position:

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for single family homes across Alberta.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Produce accurate cost estimates for a variety of projects at various stages of project development.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs using for incorporation into cost estimates.
• Complete estimates required for construction budgeting.
• Review all final change orders and interior selection packages for accuracy and completeness, prior to scheduled project start date.
• Prepare material take offs, labour and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out construction projects according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications.
• Review requests for customized price quotes based on adjustments to standard plans, specifications, and options and complete retail pricing for final acceptance.
• Create and adjust model assemblies in estimating software as required for new projects.
• Other related Estimating duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Completed post-secondary degree or diploma in Building, Construction Management, Architectural Technologies, or related academic field of study comparable to Canadian academic standards preferred.
• Five (5) or more years estimating experience for residential construction in Alberta, ideally in a fast-paced production builder environment is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required
• Working knowledge of Homefront is desired.
• Ability to read and interpret building specifications, and blueprints required.
• Strong organization, analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on attention to detail is required.
