Job summary

WSP Edmonton RPM team is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist or Technician to support field assessment, data collection, and reporting on remediation and reclamation projects in Western Canada. You will contribute to challenging environmental initiatives and work with a multidisciplinary team.

You’ll plan and execute site assessments, mentor junior staff, and help ensure safety and regulatory compliance while traveling for field work across projects in the upstream oil and gas sector.

Qualifications

  • University degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering or related discipline.
  • Three or more years experience with upstream oil and gas assessment and remediation.
  • Understanding of current provincial and federal regulatory remediation guidelines and directives.
  • Strong soil characterization and vegetation identification skills.
  • Pro-active problem solving and strong communication skills.
  • Excellent reporting and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • Physically capable of performing the required tasks, positive attitude, and strong team spirit.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for field work.

WSP’s Remediation Program Management (RPM) team is one of the most established in the country, with over 15 years of experience delivering contaminated site program management services to technically focused clients. Our team of environmental technicians, scientists, project managers, and technical experts specializes in health and safety, Phase I and II ESAs, risk assessment, and remediation. With a consistent 9–12‑month project backlog, we offer stability, variety, and strong growth opportunities. Our projects span coast to coast to coast and range widely in size and complexity, requiring efficient field execution and close collaboration.

WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist or Technician to join our rapidly growing Remediation Program Management group in Edmonton, Alberta. The role will work closely with our team of environmental professionals and will be integral in providing support for our ongoing environmental projects including environmental monitoring, assessment, remediation and reclamation projects. The position involves working in a close-knit team of dedicated professionals and you will be responsible for planning and carrying out field assessment and data collection exercises and presenting your findings in reports. This role will focus primarily on our upstream oil and gas portfolio.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $60,100 – $79,600

MB & ON: $54,800 – $75,400

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $54,200 – $72,000
