Job summary

WSP Canada seeks an Intermediate Environmental Scientist or Technician to join the Remediation Program Management team in Edmonton, Alberta. You will support environmental monitoring, assessment, remediation and reclamation projects, working with a close-knit team to deliver results.

The role focuses on upstream oil and gas portfolio work, with opportunities to plan field assessments and present findings in technical reports.

Qualifications

  • University degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering or related discipline.
  • Three or more years of upstream oil and gas assessment and remediation experience.
  • Understanding of current provincial and federal remediation guidelines.
  • Strong soil characterization and vegetation identification skills.
  • Pro‑active problem solving and strong communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and ability to travel for field work.
  • Physically capable for field tasks and team oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and executing environmental site assessments, detailed site assessments, remediation, and reclamation.
  • Lead field assignments and collaborate with project technicians, scientists, contractors and other field personnel to complete on‑site environmental project tasks.
  • Train and mentor junior staff.
  • Gather and document soil and groundwater field data according to industry standards and WSP protocols.
  • Communicate with clients, service companies, laboratories, and partners regarding project tasks.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports.
  • Ensure implementation of corporate and client safety programs on all projects.

WSP's Remediation Program Management (RPM) team is one of the most established in the country, with over 15 years of experience delivering contaminated site program management services to technically focused clients. Our team of environmental technicians, scientists, project managers, and technical experts specializes in health and safety, Phase I and II ESAs, risk assessment, and remediation. With a consistent 9-12 month project backlog, we offer stability, variety, and strong growth opportunities. Our projects span coast to coast to coast and range widely in size and complexity, requiring efficient field execution and close collaboration.

WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist or Technician to join our rapidly growing Remediation Program Management group in Edmonton, Alberta. The role will work closely with our team of environmental professionals and will be integral in providing support for our ongoing environmental projects including environmental monitoring, assessment, remediation and reclamation projects. The position involves working in a close-knit team of dedicated professionals and you will be responsible for planning and carrying out field assessment and data collection exercises and presenting your findings in reports. This role will focus primarily on our upstream oil and gas portfolio.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $60,100 - $79,600

MB & ON: $54,800 - $75,400

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $54,200 - $72,000
