Job summary

BBA Consultants seeks an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team in Canada. You will work with multidisciplinary teams on projects spanning heavy industry, mining, energy, and environmental sectors, designing concrete and steel foundations and structures.

You will also prepare estimates and reports, coordinate with other disciplines, and assist with site inspections. Advanced English and French are required for collaboration across offices and clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or relevant training and experience.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • At least five years of experience in steel or concrete design of structures.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software.
  • Available to travel occasionally to client sites and offices.
  • Advanced English skills to collaborate with other BBA offices and clients in English-speaking provinces and internationally.
  • Advanced French skills to collaborate with Quebec clients.
  • Asset: experience with structures in industrial or mining sectors.
  • Asset: experience in finite element calculations.
  • Asset: experience with dynamic structural analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design concrete and steel foundations and structures.
  • Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.).
  • Prepare estimates, technical specifications and reports.
  • Help control the quality of work by technicians and drafters.
  • Supervise and coach junior engineers.
  • Help prepare estimates, schedules and budgets where necessary.
  • Help plan, organize and assess work.
  • Help monitor site work, as required.
  • Assist with site inspections and surveys.
  • Perform other technical functions to support project delivery.
  • Maintain close relationships with clients or their representatives.

By joining our Structural Engineering team, you’ll be required to work with multidisciplinary teams on one or more projects, carrying out consulting engineering tasks such as design studies and preliminary and detailed engineering.

You’ll also help prepare engineering documents to design structures for projects in the heavy industry, mining and metals, energy, petrochemicals, environmental, sustainable development or other sectors.

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or any relevant equivalent training and experience
