Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Halifax invites an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our Atlantic Canada Engineering group. You will support diverse electrical projects, collaborate with engineers, technologists, and technicians, and contribute to project management and client-facing activities.

You will lead/assist on electrical layouts, diagrams, cable schedules, and arc flash analyses, while developing technical expertise and leadership skills in a dynamic, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with an engineering association of an Atlantic Canada province.
  • PMP designation or CAPM certification is an asset.
  • 3-6 years' of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering consulting with technical knowledge of building and site electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and relevant industry standards.
  • Demonstrable experience building and maintaining relationships with clients.
  • Experience supervising and tasking junior support staff.
  • Willing to travel occasionally within and outside of Nova Scotia.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to apply and obtain security clearances required by various client agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical single line diagrams, AC control schematics, wiring distribution schemes, and panel schedules.
  • Develop cable block diagrams, cable and conduit schedules.
  • Design physical layout of electrical equipment, cables, raceways, and grounding plans for facilities.
  • Conduct coordination studies and arc flash calculations.
  • Perform site inspections and provide technical support during construction.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Designers and CAD Technicians; guide junior staff.
  • Assist Team Lead to meet project methods and quality procedures.
  • Contribute to scope of effort estimates and proposal content.
  • Build and maintain client relationships to support business growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and project delivery.

Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis is growing and our Atlantic Canada Engineering group is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our growing Electrical Engineering team. Reporting to the Senior Electrical Team Lead, you will support the execution of a wide variety of electrical projects by collaborating with a team of engineers, technologists, and technicians. This position provides for on-going career advancement including developing technical expertise, gain team leadership skills and exposure to project management and client facing roles with in-house training and support. Our Engineering Services team in Halifax is dynamic and tight-knit, servicing local projects while contributing to large national and international projects as part of distributed virtual project teams. Our projects are varied and span Healthcare, National Defence, Light + Heavy Industrial, Transportation (Rail + Transit, Ports + Marines), Municipal, Federal (including Defence + Nuclear), and Institutional industries.

Your Role

  • Build and maintain strong internal and external client relationships to support business growth and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and project delivery efficiency.
About you
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
