Job summary

AWC Water Solutions Ltd. is seeking an intermediate level Electrical Engineer to support design and fabrication teams and uphold quality in water treatment systems.

You will size electrical equipment, lead electrical on projects, verify compliance with client specs and codes, and work with I&C teams to validate selections. You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to prototype testing, review drawings, assist in client meetings, and continuously improve our quality systems while staying

Qualifications

• Post secondary degree in electrical engineering.
• P.Eng registration in BC or Alberta.
• 5–10 years of experience in designing, sizing, and selecting process electrical equipment.
• Strong communication and written skills.
• Eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Size electrical equipment to meeting client specs, codes and standards.
• Act as electrical lead on projects.
• Review engineering documents for compliance with client specs and codes.
• Collaborate with I&C design and fabrication teams on equipment selection and sizing.
• Assist in prototype creation and testing; implement design adjustments.
• Review fabrication drawings and BOMs; support change orders.
• Support project managers with client needs during meetings or calls.
• Evaluate cost-effective design options without sacrificing quality.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
• Stay updated with industry best practices and technologies through training.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of AWC’s Quality Management System.

AWC Water Solutions Ltd. specializes in providing integrated water, wastewater treatment plants and many other specialized industrial packaged solutions. We offer clients advanced in-house engineering & design with 3D modeling, piloting, fabrication and machining, in-house control panel shop, and a full range of field services, allowing us to provide turn‑key solutions. We are seeking an intermediate level Electrical Engineer to support the design and fabrication teams and who also brings professionalism and dedication to the work we do and the communities we serve. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in the selection and sizing of electrical equipment for water and wastewater treatment systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis to size electrical equipment that meets Client specifications, codes, and standards.
• Act as electrical lead on projects
• Review engineering document and verify compliance of selected electrical equipment to client specifications and industry standards and codes.
• Work with the electrical and I&C (instrumentation and controls) design and fabrication teams to verify equipment selection and sizing provided by the application engineering group.
• Assist in the creation of prototypes and conduct testing to validate the design and make necessary adjustments.
• Review of Fabrication Drawings, Assembly Drawings, Bills of Materials, General Arrangement Drawings, Equipment Layout, and supports the development of change orders, etc.
• Assist project managers with client needs by taking part in client meetings or calls.
• Evaluate and recommend cost‑effective design options without compromising quality and performance.
• Collaborate with internal departments (fabrication, sales, etc.) and external stakeholders (vendors, owners, owners’ engineers, etc.) to achieve desired project outcomes.
• Stay updated with industry best practices and technologies through training and self‑improvement initiatives.
• Help in the continual improvement of AWC’s Quality Management System’s practices, procedures, templates, and checklists by participating in design reviews, feedback sessions, and process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
• Mentor and train junior team members.

Requirements

• Post Secondary Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Holds active P.Eng. registration in the province of BC or Alberta.
• 5-10 years of work experience designing, sizing, and selecting process electrical equipment.
• Strong communication and written skills
• Knowledge of process electrical equipment an asset
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, exposure to Autodesk products is an asset.
• Strong understanding of engineering first principles utilized in the design of electrical and controls systems is an asset.
• Eligible to work in Canada.
