Job description

TWD is currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Designer with Minerals & Metals experience to join our team in Ontario (GTA or Burlington). The Electrical Designer will be responsible for preparing project specifications.

Duties :

• Design electrical layouts for cable raceways, lighting, grounding, lightning protection systems, substations, EHouses, and heat tracing elements.
• Design and develop high voltage (230 kV) single line / 3-line diagrams as instructed by Engineers.
• Prepare 3D models for HV electrical equipment, underground ducts, and cable trays.
• Prepare equipment and load lists for projects.
• Design electrical heat tracing systems and prepare bills of materials.
• Develop control schematics for motors, switchgear, and plant lighting systems.
• Prepare cable schedules, panel schedules, and termination drawings in conjunction with single line diagrams and vendor drawings.
• Review vendor drawings for MCC, switchgear, UPS, and other electrical equipment.
• Provide technical guidance to junior design/drafting personnel and review their work for accuracy.
• Coordinate with civil and mechanical disciplines on design and multidiscipline packages.
• Prepare electrical area classification drawings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

• 5 years of experience in Minerals & Metals.
• Experience with 3D software.
• Ability to coach and assist team members.
• Strong field experience in operating facilities.
• Familiarity with low voltage switchgear and switchboards.
• Thorough understanding of CEC and NEC codes.
• Knowledge of hazardous area electrical systems and API505 standards.
• Degree or diploma in electrical technology.
• Experience in preparing load lists, voltage drop calculations, cable schedules, equipment lists, and bills of materials.
• Expertise in cable tray system design, loading, and heat tracing design.
• Proficiency with standard design and drafting practices.
• Expertise in E&I design practices for heavy industry.
