Job summary

BBA Consultants seeks an Intermediate Designer, Process Control to support our Thunder Bay or Sudbury offices. You will provide design services for local clients, focusing on OPEX work and advancing projects from front-end studies to detailed engineering.

You will join the Automation, Instrumentation and Control System engineering team, ensuring technical quality, project scope execution and regional collaboration with experts.

Qualifications

• College diploma in electrical engineering technology or equivalent.
• 4+ years in mining/energy engineering design, consulting preferred.
• Process control engineering experience from concept to detail design.
• Ability to read P&IDs, control narratives and specs.
• Hands-on programming, integration, testing and commissioning of control systems.
• Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, PROFIBUS, Modbus networks.
• Experience delivering process control drawings, layouts and specs.
• AutoCAD experience required.
• Strong communication, organization and leadership skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
• Experience with Revit or Plant3D is a plus.

• Program, integrate, troubleshoot and commission PLC/HMI/DCS systems.

Your future role on our team

BBA’s seeking an intermediate process control designerto join our new Thunder Bay office or existing Sudbury office to support ourcontinued growth in Central Canada. You’ll be responsible for providing designservices for local clients, with a focus on OPEX work. You’ll also play a keyrole in all phases of engineering projects, from front-end studies to fieldimplementation, with a focus on detailed engineering.

As a member of the Automation, Instrumentation and ControlSystem engineering team in Central Canada, you’ll be responsible for technicalquality, project scope execution and regional collaboration with othertechnical experts.

• Contribute to engineering work packages for major process control systems, including crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, dewatering, hydro generation, conveyors and process water systems
• Execute instrumentation, automation and control system scopes, including scope definition, budgets, schedules and delivery tracking
• Develop engineering deliverables to BBA and client standards, including P&IDs, specifications, drawings, models and schedules
• Design, integrate, program and commission PLC, HMI, DCS and industrial communication systems

Summary of certifications and job requirements

• College diploma in electrical engineering technology or equivalent
• Over 4 years of relevant mining or energy engineering design experience, or in the energy sector, with a preference for experience in consulting
• Experience with process control engineering, from conceptual and feasibility studies to detailed design
• Experience interpreting P&IDs, process design criteria, control narratives, logic diagrams and technical specifications
• Hands-on experience programming, integrating, troubleshooting and commissioning industrial control systems
• Knowledge of industrial networks, including Ethernet/IP, PROFIBUS and Modbus
• Experience developing process control deliverables, including drawings, panel designs, equipment layouts, specifications and schedules
• AutoCAD experience required
• Strong communication, organizational and technical leadership skills
• Valid driver’s licence
• Willingness to travel for site work and commissioning
• Asset: experience with Revit, Plant3D or other 3D design software
