Stantec is seeking an Intermediate Coastal Engineer to join our Ontario team. You will work on hydrodynamic modeling, coastal design, and risk assessments, supporting environmental and infrastructure projects.

The role emphasizes collaboration in a multidisciplinary environment and advancing HSSE standards. The position requires a graduate engineering degree in hydrodynamics or water resources and at least five years in consulting or regulatory settings, with professional registration

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Engineering with a focus on hydrodynamics, water resources, or hydrology.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in consulting or regulatory environments.
• Professional registration with PEO or PGO eligibility to obtain P.Eng. or P.Geo.
• Regular use of hydrodynamic modeling tools.
• Mining experience is an asset, specifically mine water balances and mine water management.

Responsibilities

• Develop hydrodynamic models to support coastal and river projects, including environmental assessments, remedial designs, and risk evaluations.
• Conduct coastal engineering design and assess coastal hazards for resilient infrastructure.
• Apply hydrologic and hydraulic principles with proficiency in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and PCSWMM.
• Prepare clear technical reports documenting field investigations and analyses.
• Support proposal development, work plans, budgets, and manage assigned projects.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking an Intermediate Coastal Engineer to join our Ontario Team and be remotely located in one of our British Columbia offices. You will be part of the Water Resources Technical Team within Stantec’s Environmental Services Business Line.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Develop hydrodynamic models using tools such as MIKE 3, MIKE 21, and Telemac to support coastal and river engineering projects, including environmental impact assessments, remedial designs, and risk evaluations.
• Conduct coastal engineering design and assess coastal hazards to support resilient and sustainable infrastructure projects.
• Apply a strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, with proficiency in HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, and PCSWMM.
• Prepare clear and comprehensive technical reports documenting field investigations, analytical findings, and interpretations.
• Support proposal development and assist in creating work plans, project schedules, and budgets, while managing assigned projects and tasks.
• Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to a cohesive and productive work environment.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding and consistent application of industry standards, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks.
• Perform primarily office-based work, involving extended periods of computer use and data analysis.

Education and Experience

Graduate degree in Engineering with a focus on hydrodynamics, water resources, or hydrology.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in consulting or regulatory environments.

Regular use of hydrodynamic modeling tools.

Professional registration with PEO or PGO eligibility to obtain P.Eng. or P.Geo.

Typical office environment using computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range

• Locations in PEI – $80,300.00 – $116,400.00 Annually.
• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland – BC & Various locations in Ontario – $89,200.00 – $129,300.00 Annually.
• Locations in Lower Mainland – BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario – $94,600.00 – $137,100.00 Annually.
