Job summary

Stantec seeks an Intermediate Coastal Engineer to join our Ontario Team and be remotely located in one of our British Columbia offices. You will join the Water Resources Technical Team within Stantec’s Environmental Services Business Line to support coastal/hydraulic projects.

You will develop hydrodynamic models, conduct coastal design and hazard assessments, and prepare technical reports while collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Engineering with a focus on hydrodynamics, water resources, or hydrology.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in consulting or regulatory environments.
  • Regular use of hydrodynamic modeling tools.
  • Professional registration with PEO or PGO eligibility to obtain P.Eng. or P.Geo.
  • Mining experience is an asset, specifically mine water balances and mine water management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrodynamic models using MIKE 3, MIKE 21, and Telemac for coastal and river projects.
  • Conduct coastal engineering design and assess coastal hazards for resilient infrastructure.
  • Apply hydraulic principles with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and PCSWMM.
  • Prepare clear technical reports documenting investigations and findings.
  • Assist in proposal development, work plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and maintain project standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and HSSE requirements.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking an Intermediate Coastal Engineer to join our Ontario Team and be remotely located in one of our British Columbia offices. You will be part of the Water Resources Technical Team within Stantec's Environmental Services Business Line.

Your Key Responsibilities

As an Intermediate Coastal Engineer, you will contribute to a variety of hydrotechnical, hydrologic, and hydraulic projects within a dynamic design team. You will report directly to a Project Manager or Team Lead.

  • Develop hydrodynamic models using tools such as MIKE 3, MIKE 21, and Telemac to support coastal and river engineering projects, including environmental impact assessments, remedial designs, and risk evaluations
  • Conduct coastal engineering design and assess coastal hazards to support resilient and sustainable infrastructure projects
  • Apply a strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, with proficiency in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and PCSWMM
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive technical reports documenting field investigations, analytical findings, and interpretations
  • Support proposal development and assist in creating work plans, project schedules, and budgets, while managing assigned projects and tasks
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to a cohesive and productive work environment
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding and consistent application of industry standards, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks
  • Perform primarily office-based work, involving extended periods of computer use and data analysis

Education and Experience

Pay Range
  • Locations in PEI-$80,300.00 - $116,400.00 Annually
  • Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$89,200.00 - $129,300.00 Annually
  • Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$94,600.00 - $137,100.00 Annually
Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
