Job summary

Responsibilities include creating Civil 3D drawing packages, mentoring junior technologists, supporting planning, design, tendering, and site inspections, and ensuring quality and contract compliance. Experience with surveys, quantity takeoffs, and construction drawings is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology.
• 3 to 7 years of civil engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

• Ability to interpret calculations and translate designs.

• Position: INTERMEDIATE CIVIL TECHNOLOGIST

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and preparing technical drawings, calculating earthworks quantities, developing design surfaces, processing surveys, performing construction site inspections, and other project management tasks.

Projects that the candidate may work on include earthen embankment dams, concrete water control structures and spillways, canals, pump stations, and other water control infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently develop and prepare civil engineering drawing packages for water resources projects using Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Mentor junior-level technologists and assist with Civil 3D training and technical development.
• Participate in project planning, detailed design, tendering, and construction phases.
• Review technical drawings and deliverables for accuracy, quality, and compliance with company standards and project requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, technologists, and project managers to implement design solutions.
• Complete site inspections and construction support services.
• Support contract administration, quantity tracking, and field inspection during construction.

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

• Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
• 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in civil engineering consulting or infrastructure projects.
• Experience calculating cut/fill quantities and preparing quantity takeoffs.
• Ability to interpret engineering calculations and translate design concepts into construction drawings.
• Familiarity with construction specifications and contract documents.
• Experience with survey data processing and surface development.
• Possess excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Additional assets include:

• Experience with GIS, Infraworks, Inventor, or Revit.
• Experience with dams, canals, reservoirs, pump stations, stormwater systems, or other water resources infrastructure.
