Your Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an intermediate Bridge Engineer within our bridge group, contributing to our dynamic transportation business centre in British Columbia. Stantec’s transportation business centre has a strong local presence and participates in some of Stantec’s largest and most iconic transportation projects – locally, nationally, and globally. The successful candidate will have experience in bridge design, project management, and client management, along with exceptional communication skills and a passion for empowering teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Bridge Engineering and Project Management:
2. Planning and design of bridges and related structures for highway, transit, and rail projects.
3. Supervising structural analysts and designers.
4. Managing bridge projects and multidisciplinary projects involving bridges.
5. Leading design efforts, including Engineer of Record responsibilities.
6. Preparing contract documents, estimates, reports, and proposals.
7. Presenting information to clients, the public, and stakeholders.
8. Mentoring junior and intermediate designers and technical staff.
9. Collaborating with colleagues in multi-disciplinary design teams.
10. Managing client accounts, business development, and marketing activities.

Capabilities and Credentials

• Knowledge of relevant bridge design guides, especially CHBDC.
• Familiarity with BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure standards.
• Experience in a lead role in bridge design.
• Experience designing and constructing complex bridges.
• Proven ability to prepare proposals and reports.
• Leadership skills for guiding teams on projects.
• Experience in bridge inspections, condition surveys, rehabilitation, and asset management.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Education and Experience

• Graduate degree in Civil Engineering with at least 8 years of professional experience.

This position involves in-person and remote work to serve the BC region, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and some fieldwork as needed.
