WSP has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Biologist to join our Ecology and Environmental Planning & Permitting team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver, BC.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Providing leadership in health and safety
  • Assisting in the development and leading of field programs (e.g., permitting, environmental management activities, ecosystems, vegetation, and wetland inventories and assessments, fish and wildlife surveys and assessments, and stream and aquatic surveys, assessments and construction monitoring) for various types of resource development projects including oil and gas, power, mines, infrastructure, and urban development
  • Leading field crews and overseeing quality control of field methods and data collection in accordance with internal Standard Work Instructions
  • Contributing to high quality proposals and technical reports
  • Coordination and submission of permitting associated with WSA and other potential permitting requirements
  • Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, deliverables, and invoices
  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams and developing positive working relationships in a team environment

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Minimum BSc degree with at least 3 years of experience as a biologist
  • Registration as R.P.Bio. (or eligible for registration) with the BC College of Applied Biology
  • Experience with fieldwork in city and remote locations
  • Proven commitment to Health and Safety
  • Good working knowledge of the fauna and flora of BC
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Willingness to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions and for extended periods.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work in a dynamic environment with limited supervision
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Aptitude for mentoring and directing junior staff

Salary range (in British Columbia): $ 64,300 - $ 88,400

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
