Aplin is seeking an Intermediate Accountant in Metro Vancouver to support a growing mechanical contracting business. The role focuses on broad accounting tasks, project cost tracking, and financial reporting, with autonomy and collaboration across the team.

Key duties include AR/AP, payroll, project cost tracking, and assisting with month-end/year-end close. Budgeted salary ranges from CAD 65,000 to CAD 90,000, with a three-month probation and five in-office days per week.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction or contracting industry accounting (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, progress billing, and applying payments accurately.
• Support accounts payable activities by coding expenses to specific projects, ensuring proper allocation.
• Oversee payroll processing, maintaining separation from local teams, and ensuring timely execution.
• Prepare weekly project cost tracking reports and assist in drafting progress draws and tracking billings.
• Handle credit card and expense receipt entry, cross-referencing, and ensuring completeness.
• Support month-end and year-end financial closing, preparing necessary reports and filings (GST, etc.).
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data within QuickBooks.
• Double-check and review the work of other finance support staff to ensure error-free reporting.
• Support internal audits and ensure compliance with established processes and deadlines.
• Collaborate with team members and management on financial projects and process improvements.

Additional Information

• Three-month probation period, with opportunities for growth into specialized or managerial roles as the company expands
