We are currently seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join the Argus Group at their corporate office located at Boundary Bay Airport in Delta, B.C.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this is a full-time, in-office role responsible for full-cycle accounting across several business units. The position offers a dynamic and varied workload in a collaborative, multi-entity environment. The Argus Group is a privately held collection of affiliated companies that, together, make up the broader Argus Group identity. Each company operates independently, with its own leadership and focus, but benefits from centralized administrative and financial support. Their portfolio includes business such as Alpha Aviation Inc (czbb.com), Gate 22 Winery (gate22winery.com), Adega on 45th (adegaon45.com) and an R&D start-up in power electronics.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with growing companies that need support in enhancing accounting processes, refining accounting protocols and strengthening their accounting standards. We’re looking for a self-starter and critical thinker who thrives in dynamic environments and is excited by a wide range of responsibilities and new challenges. In this role, you’ll be expected to juggle multiple priorities and adapt quickly as needs evolve.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform monthly full cycle accounting to production of financial statements, including bank reconciliations, amortization of assets and prepaids, accruals, reconciling intercompany accounts, credit card receipts etc.
• Account analysis as required.
• Review, verify, and record monthly credit card expense reports.
• Processing accounts payable.
• Cost of sales and gross margin analysis.
• Accounting for inventory.
• Assist in preparation for the annual budget.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and analysis reports.
• File statutory returns on a monthly or quarterly (GST, PST) basis.
• Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Ability to provide back up in payroll.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
• Provide professional suggestions and illustrate analytical skills when problem-solving with team members.
• Other tasks and projects as assigned.

Key Qualifications and Skills

• 2- 3 years of formal accounting education.
• 1-2 years of payroll experience with ADP is an asset.
• At least 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
• Retail accounting experience is an asset.
• Exposure to or prior work experience with small companies is an asset.
• Adaptable, flexible and excited by change.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with good computer knowledge.
• Demonstrates proficiency with financial reporting, ASPE, and possesses the ability to identify issues and interpret and apply accounting policies.
• High computer literacy including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
