IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY

Interim Senior Director, Finance and Special Projects

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Duration: 6 months

Our client is a private equity owned, consumer-focused company and a leader in its field. They are urgently seeking an Interim finance during a transitional period. This strategic interim assignment will call for the finance leader to conduct an assessment of the finance function, develop a plan to optimize it and conduct much of the work to implement changes. In addition to having a transformational skill set with high EQ and people leadership capacity, the ideal candidate will have comfort rolling up their sleeves to help diagnose issues and contribute to daily finance deliverables.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversight of a number of critical corporate finance special projects, mostly related to the improvement of processes and creating efficiencies.
  • Provide hands-on assistance and process improvement work with respect to debt reporting, forecasting, balance sheet, cash flow, treasury, monthly/quarterly closes, consolidations, journal entries and modeling.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching and change management support to the team and organization.
  • Reduce risk and effectively manage cash; Deal with lenders.
  • Improve the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information and provide accurate and comprehensive materials to support PE ownership.
  • Optimize the reporting infrastructure to measure and track performance, question assumptions, provide insight and analysis, and ensure decisions are based on sound financial criteria. Drive fact-based decision making.
  • Manage the development and implementation of new procedures and controls to enhance the workflow of the department and accuracy of financial results.
  • Potential opportunity to support ERP conversion, project, costing standardization initiative, and a variety of other in-process change initiatives.

Competencies and Requirements:

  • Controller to Senior Director-level experience with strong technical accounting expertise.
  • Previous experience as a finance leader within a private equity owned entity.
  • CPA designation mandatory, PMP nice-to-have but not required.
  • Debt and leveraged company experience required.
  • Strong ERP system knowledge.
  • Proven partner of the executive leadership group with a reputation as a “doer” that can “roll up their sleeves” when needed.
  • Expertise managing project timelines and communicating status, obstacles, etc. to the business.
  • Excellent organizational skills and communication skills.
  • Passion for optimizing and building finance functions.
  • Collaborative. A true team player who views PE firm as partners in the business. Knows how to build rapport with the sponsors and maintain trust with the leadership team; High EQ;
  • Ability to periodically attend meetings in Mississauga.
