Health N Smiles Dental Program Full Time Brampton, ON $42.90 - $49.65 CAD per hour

WellFort isseeking an Interim Manager tojoin our Health n’ Smilesteam! Health n’ Smiles provides services to under resourced families living in the Region of Peel.

PURPOSE

The Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational management, and strategic direction of WellFort Community Health Services' Dental Program. This includes oversight of program planning and development, service delivery, quality improvement, human resources, financial stewardship, and community partnerships to ensure the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and integrated oral health services.

As a member of the leadership team, the Manager contributes to the achievement of WellFort's strategic priorities by fostering a collaborative, people-centred culture, supporting organizational initiatives, and promoting excellence in client care. The Manager provides leadership to an interprofessional team, establishes and maintains strong relationships with community and system partners, and identifies opportunities to enhance programs and services in response to emerging community needs.

Working within an interprofessional, client-centred, and health equity-focused model of care, the Manager is accountable for the effective planning, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of all administrative, operational, clinical support, and strategic aspects of the Dental Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Coordination
  • Ensures that programs and services are aligned with the strategic and operational plans and priorities of WellFort.
  • Oversees the delivery of dental services, programs, community engagement, advocacy initiatives, and volunteer services.
  • Plans, implements, monitors, and evaluates services as part of WellFort's broader planning, quality improvement, and evaluation processes.
  • Leads the planning, research, development, and implementation of program and service initiatives, including service enhancements, expansion opportunities, and innovative models of care, as appropriate.
  • Participates in consultations, community networks, advocacy activities, and community development initiatives to advance the interests of the Dental Program and the populations it serves.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with community leaders, health system partners, and other service agencies.
  • Ensures dental clinic staff maintain complete, accurate, and timely electronic documentation, including client records, encounters, reports, and other required documentation in accordance with organizational policies, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), privacy legislation, and applicable professional standards.
  • Prepares monthly service statistics and oversees the monitoring and tracking of program performance indicators and budgetary reporting as required by the organization and funding partners.
  • Ensures the effective procurement, coordination, and management of clinical supplies, equipment, and resources required to support program operations.
  • Coordinates and oversees the monthly clinical chart audit process and ensures appropriate follow-up on identified quality improvement opportunities.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing, scheduling, and allocation of resources to support effective service delivery and operational continuity while maintaining staffing levels and resource utilization within approved dental program budgets.
  • Provides leadership for program planning, implementation, performance monitoring, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement, ensuring program outcomes are achieved through the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of operational and clinical performance data.
  • Promotes the integration and coordination of dental services with other WellFort programs and interdisciplinary teams to enhance continuity of care and deliver person-centred, comprehensive, and equitable services.
  • Oversees and monitors all quality improvement and risk management activities, ensuring Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices are implemented, monitored, and regularly audited, and that staff consistently comply with clinical, privacy, accreditation, and legislative requirements.
Human Resources
  • Leads, guides, coaches, and supports staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth while ensuring the effective stewardship of program resources.
  • Recruits, hires, onboards, supervises, evaluates, coaches, disciplines, and, where necessary, terminates staff in accordance with organizational policies and collective agreements.
  • Facilitates team-based initiatives and promotes effective interprofessional collaboration within a shared-care, client-centred model.
  • Coordinates the orientation and onboarding of new staff, students, and volunteers.
  • Ensures all staff maintain required competencies and complete mandatory organizational, professional, and legislative training requirements.
Administration and Facilities
  • Develops, monitors, and manages program budgets in collaboration with Finance leadership and the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Participates as a member of WellFort's leadership team to support strategic planning, organizational decision-making, policy development, service planning, and continuous organizational improvement.
  • Works collaboratively with organizational leadership, the Facilities team, and the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) to ensure the clinic is safe, clean, well-maintained, compliant with applicable legislation, and supportive of high-quality service delivery.
  • Participates in WellFort's leadership on-call rotation, providing leadership support for organizational issues that arise outside regular business hours.
Other
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and review of WellFort policies, procedures, and organizational initiatives as required.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of client, employee, and organizational information in accordance with privacy legislation and organizational policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • A post-graduate degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Health Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a community-based healthcare, social services, or other mission-driven organization.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership experience, including supervision of interdisciplinary teams, program planning and development, operational management, and performance management, preferably within a dental or primary healthcare setting.
  • Experience working in a dental clinic environment, with a strong understanding of dental practice operations and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership and management while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in strategic planning, program evaluation, quality improvement, performance measurement, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of community-based primary healthcare, health equity, the social determinants of health, relevant health policy, and the broader Ontario healthcare system.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, relationship-building, decision-making, problem-solving, conflict resolution, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, sound judgment, and a commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement, innovation, and client-centred care.
  • Experience in community consultation, community engagement, health promotion, and population health approaches.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, electronic health records (EHRs), and data analysis/reporting tools; experience with dental practice management software is considered an asset.
  • Ability to communicate in one or more languages commonly spoken by Peel Region residents is an asset.
