Job summary

Professional Staffing seeks a Controller for a mid-size logistics/transportation company in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This temporary, 1-year assignment will lead the accounting team and report to senior management, providing strategic financial input while implementing controls to safeguard assets.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and partnership with executives, along with expertise in Microsoft Dynamics GP, Excel, and Word.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight (8) years of progressive accounting experience.
• Minimum five (5) years in a leadership role.
• Ability to lead, manage and develop a team to execute projects within Finance and other business areas.
• Extensive knowledge of PC based software programs: Word, Excel, Microsoft Dynamics GP (asset).

Responsibilities

• Safeguard company assets and communicate issues promptly.
• Maintain and improve accounting, reporting policies and procedures.
• Ensure timely corporate reporting following policies.
• Prepare financial analyses and reports aligned with objectives.
• Analyze monthly, quarterly and annual results and explain variances.
• Prepare reliable forecasts and other deliverables to the bank.
• Provide financial and operational information for strategic planning.
• Evaluate business opportunities and risk with recommendations.
• Provide financial and non-financial support to management and staff.
• Identify and plan capital or operating projects including cost reductions.
